Here are highlights in history for April 26, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:
1984 — Members of Albert Lea’s Knights of Columbus Council No. 1590 were preparing for a weekend Tootsie Roll Fund Drive to benefit the Freeborn County ARC organization. In 1983 a total of $1,635 was raised.
1974 — An ordinance appropriating $150,000 was approved by the Albert Lea City Council for the purchase of the former Lea College Fieldhouse west of the city.
1964 — Glen Hammer was elected commander of Albert Lea’s Freemond Madson Post 447 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
