Here are highlights in history for May 1, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:

1988 — The popular Albert Lea High School promenade was held in Central Park on the previous day.

1978 — The Kilties Band from Decorah, Iowa, was in Albert Lea the previous day to participate in the Loyalty Day parade.

1968 — The Albert Lea Salvation Army approved plans to construct a gymnasium and education addition to their citadel on Court street.
