USC has outscored opponents 18-0 over last 2 games
WELLS — United South Central Rebels pitcher Ali Ramsley struck out nine batters Monday in a 10-0 win over the Waterville-Elysian-Morristown Buccaneers in Wells.
The Rebels (2-1, 2-0 Gopher) jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the first and scored in each inning en route to their second consecutive game. The Rebels have outscored opponents 18-0 over their previous two games after beating Randolph (0-1, 0-1) 8-0 on Thursday.
“We’ve improved a lot since our first game,” Rebels coach Brad Huse said. “It was good to get our bats going.”
The Rebels scattered eight hits against Bucs (0-1, 0-1) pitcher Brittany Buesgens. Catcher Tayla Sunde went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored, and outfielder Whitney Adams went 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Seniors Marielle Schultz, Ramsley and Kayla Stenzel also notched hits for the Rebels.
Ramsley allowed two hits from the mound and walked none.
“Once again, (Ramsley) was finding her spots early,” Huse said. “She had nine strikeouts in five innings — we’ll take that any day.”
The Rebels play again at 4:30 p.m. Monday against Blue Earth Area (0-2, 0-1 South Central) and return home on Thursday against Blooming Prairie (2-0, 1-0 Gopher), one of the Gopher Conference’s top teams.
