1988 — Marianne Bennett, daughter of Merrill and Kathy Bennett of Albert Lea, would be going to Seoul, Korea, as a member of a dance group. This group would be presenting dances at a Seoul hotel during the Summer Olympics.

1978 — Edwin C. Larson, Wells, was elected commander of the Minnesota Disabled American Veterans.

1958 — For the 16th straight year Wells High School won the Middle Eight Baseball Conference title.
