Here are highlights in history for May 11, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:
1991 — Three people — Deb Sauke, Liz Thunstedt and Jack Korman — were candidates for election to fill two open seats on the Alden-Conger School Board.
1981 — Leo Carey Post 56 would be the host for the First District American Legion and Auxiliary convention in Albert Lea on June 6 and 7.
1951 — Construction started on the addition to Albert Lea’s Ramsey Elementary School.
