Here are highlights in history for May 16, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:

1985 — Wells-Easton Elementary School students would be presenting a musical about “Cabbage Patch Dreams.” This presentation was based on the then very popular fad based on Cabbage Patch Dolls.

1975 — Albert Lea High School Tiger trackmen defeated the team from Rochester Mayo with a score of 82-74. This track meet was held at Hammer Field.

1955 — The Rev. Melvin A Hammarberg, pastor of Arlington Hills Lutheran Church of St. Paul, would be the speaker for the graduation of 300 seniors at Albert Lea High School.
