Here are highlights in history for May 20, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:
1989 — An American Automobile Association Fuel Gauge Survey listed average statewide gasoline prices as: regular $1.308; unleaded, $1.336; and premium unleaded, $1.283.
1979 — Lt. Tom Menning, a member of the Albert Lea Police Department for six years, was selected to be assistant chief of police by Chief Clarence Ayers.
1964 — 1969— The School District Board of Education said an exception to the dress code for girls would allow them to wear slacks during “extreme cold weather during the winter.”
