Here are highlights in history for May 22, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:
1984 — A Tribune photo featured Richard Diaz who raised $803 in pledges for the Bike-A-Thon. This was his 11th year of participating in this annual event.
1974 — Karl Hueners was appointed to be the administrator for the new chemical dependency treatment program at Naeve Hospital.
1964 — Albert Lea’s Leo Carey Post 56 of the American Legion sponsored a kite flying contest for School District 241 elementary students. The contest was held near Southwest Junior High School.
