Rebels send 2 teams to section final

The United South Central Rebels boys’ and girls’ golf teams finished first Tuesday in the Section 2A South subsection tournament and advanced to the Section 2A finals held June 2.
The subsection tournament was held at Rose Lake Golf Club in Fairmont.
The boys’ team shot 335 and edged Madelia for first place by five strokes.
Sam Gackstetter led team with an 80 and finished second overall. Eighth-grader Nate Pederson (82) finished fourth, Ryan Pederson (83) finished sixth and ninth-grader Seth Olsen (90) finished 12th overall.
Hayden Feist (92) and Nick Niebuhr (95) were non-scorers for the Rebels.
The Rebels girls’ team shot 406 and cruised to a first-place finish by 35 strokes.
Claire Christian led the Rebels with a 95 and finished fourth overall. The Rebels had four golfers finish in the top 10, including fourth-place Ali Wood (100), fifth-place Kyley Bullerman (102), and ninth-place Erinn Hotzler (109).
Veronica Schindler (110) and Jenna Jenna Stevermer (131) were non-scorers for the Rebels.
Both Rebels teams are on of four competing a spot in the state tournament. The section finals are June 2 at North Links Golf Course in North Mankato.
