The United South Central Rebels track and field teams faced their toughest competition of the season Friday in Fairmont.

The Rebels girls’ team finished fourth and the boys’ finished sixth.

First place finishes were hard to come by for the Rebels with Amanda Allis picking up the lone top place for the girls in the shot put. Hannah Goemann finished second in the 1,600-meter run with a personal-record time of 5 minutes, 28 seconds. The sprint medley team of Mikayla Gormley, Linsey Thisius, Anissa Janzig and Bailey Olson also finished second.

For the boys’ team, Tony Willette won the discus with a toss of 150 feet, and Dylan Baumann won the 1,600-meter run in 4:42 — both personal records. Jannik Rosemeyer, Chris Melby, Brett Stevermer and Jay Staloch made up the sprint medley relay team which finished second. The Rebels scratched their 4×100- and 4×200- meter relay teams due to injuries.

The meet was halted just prior to the 4×400-meter relay due to lightening.
