The Northwood-Kensett Vikings girls’ golf team was tied atop the leaderboard Monday after the Corn Bowl Conference meet at Round Grove Golf and Country Club in Greene, Iowa. Then officials looked at their fifth score.

After tying Rockford with a 446, the fifth score from each team determined the conference champion. Rockford’s Lindsay Ott shot a 119 while the Vikings’ Jackie Horsfal shot 129.

Sophomore Mikki Butler led the Vikings with a 105 and finished second overall. Junior Bridget Gomez finished sixth overall with a 109, and junior Tessa Bratrud finished 13th overall with a 114. Breanne Lombard (118) and Horsfal made up the Vikings’ final two scores. Ninth-grader Amber Thompson shot a 150 for the Vikings but her score did not count toward the team’s score.
