Wolverines baseball tops Cougars 5-2

The Glenville-Emmons Wolverines baseball team completed a season sweep of the Mabel-Canton Cougars Thursday with a 5-2 win in Mabel.
Spencer Kral struck out nine batters through seven innings and walked one.
“Both pitchers pitched pretty well tonight,” Wolverines coach Louie Toulouse said. “Both teams hit the ball well but the pitchers kind of took over in some tight spots.”
Tyler Woodside led the Wolverines offensively by going 2-for-3 with a walk. Kral, Landon Hall and Caleb Schumaker also notched hits while eighth-grader Devin Nelson went 1-for-3 with a double, run scored and two RBIs.
The Wolverines play again at noon Saturday against Winona Cotter in Glenville.
