GLENVILLE — Spencer Kral threw his third no-hitter of the season Monday, and Trent Thoms hit his first varsity home run as the Glenville-Emmons Wolverines baseball team beat the Lyle/Austin Pacelli Athletics 12-0 in Glenville.

In a game of notable achievements, Tyler Woodside struck out for the first time all season but still finished 2-for-3 with three RBIs.

Woodside gave the Wolverines (8-5, 5-1 Southeast) a 1-0 lead in the first inning with an RBI single that scored Peter Hansen. The Wolverines scored five runs in the second inning — four off wild pitches or passed balls — and Thoms hit a solo home run in the third to put the Wolverines on top 7-0. The homer over the left field fence was not only his first on varsity but hit on his father’s birthday, too. Thoms hollered “I want that ball” as he cheerfully ran around the bases.

After each striking out three times Saturday against Maranatha Christian, Thoms and Zack Williamson rebounded offensively. Thoms finished 2-for-2 with three RBIs, and Williamson was 2-for-3 with a double.

Kral struck out five over five innings and walked none. His perfect game was broken up with one out in the fifth when he hit a batter.

“Kral threw hard a had a good curveball but they made contact and we made some really nice defensive plays behind him,” Wolverines coach Toulouse said.

The Athletics (4-7, 3-4) only hit one ball out of the infield.

The Wolverines play again today at 4:30 p.m. against Mabel-Canton (2-0, 2-0) in Glenville.
