Brody Sunblad ran a personal best Saturday to represent the Albert Lea boys’ track and field team at the state meet.
Sunblad, a junior, finished second in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles in 41.05 seconds at the Section 1AA championships at Lakeville South High School.
“The 300-meter intermediate hurdles is a very physically demanding race,” Tigers coach Kevin Gentz said. “It requires a great deal of strength, coordination, endurance and speed.”
Gentz said Sunblad has worked hard this season and has dedicated time to improve his form and condition. He said Sunblad was voted the hardest worker by his teammates.
The Tigers finished ninth of 15 teams at the section meet. Alik Smed placed third in the high jump.
