Here are highlights in history for June 7, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:
1989 — Colstrup Sod and Landscaping in the old Land O’Lakes building on West Clark Street by the railroad crossing was having a grand opening.
1979 — A front page program in the Tribune listed the activities that would be taking place during the weekend observance of Mardi Gras in Albert Lea.
1939 — Albert Lea’s population was listed as being 13,230 by the company that published the city’s telephone directory.
