Here are highlights in history for June 24, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:

1988 — Ida Grotenhuis of Albert Lea was honored by the Lakes and Prairies Synod of the Presbyterian Church for her many years of service. (This synod was based in the Upper Midwest.)

1978 — One of the advertised bargains at Boyd & Jack’s Super Valu was a pound of California peaches for 49 cents. Another bargain was two heads of iceberg lettuce for 89 cents.

1968 — Rainfall in Wells totaled 6.5 inches. This resulted in a large pond on Third Avenue and many flooded basements.
