Bad Monkey headlines Ellendale Days

ELLENDALE — This city will start its four-day Ellendale Days festival tonight with a meat raffle and tacos beginning around 6 p.m. at the Ellendale Liquor Store.

The first night of the celebration concludes with a Mayo One demonstration in the lot south of the post office and musical entertainment by Luverne’s Concertina Band.

On the second day of the festival activities will begin at 4 p.m. with a taco supper and bake sale at the United Methodist Church. Also returning from last year will be the Lions Club dunk tank and the Ellendale Idol contest.

A street dance, featuring Side Action, will be the entertainment on Friday night.

Saturday will be the longest day of events with the farmers market beginning at 8 a.m. and running until the band Bad Monkey is finished playing at the street dance. During the day, festivities will include the Lions rummage and white elephant sale, T-ball tournament, car show, girls fast-pitch softball, a youth car wash, parade and Texas hold ’em tournament.

Musical events on Saturday will include Ross Sletten and friend music concert and Patty Kark music concert along with Bad Monkey at the street dance.

The festival wraps up on Sunday with the Lions Club hosting a pancake breakfast at the community building.

Church services will be provided by the Vibrant Life Assembly of God behind the Ellendale Municipal Liquor building. The worship service will be open to the public.

The final event of Ellendale Days is the tractor pull, sponsored by the Ellendale Lions Club. Food and beverages will be available through the Lions Club food stand by the bus garage.
