Here are highlights in history for July 27, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:
1988 — One of the editorial page columns was being written by Vern Brown, the Tribune’s publisher.
1968 — One of the refreshment stands at the Freeborn County Fair was sponsored by the Hartland Lutheran Church. Admission to the fair that year, incidentally, was just a dollar a person and children under 12 were free.
1938 — City residents were overwhelmingly against the Albert Lea School District taking over Central Park as a proposed site for a new building.
