Weekend Planner: Golf tourney will raise money for AEDs Saturday

The city of Freeborn will hold its annual celebration this Saturday including a parade, meals and evening entertainment. Look to Page 8 for a full schedule of events and story about the celebration.
Also this Saturday is “The Beat Goes On” golf tournament held at Green Lea Golf Course. The event will raise funds to help Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea purchase automated external defibrillators for local law enforcement.
The tournament costs $50 and includes 18 holes, prizes and a meal. It begins at 9 a.m. Saturday and is a four-person best shot. Carts cost extra and may be reserved at the golf course. Call Tim Bennett at 507-377-5131 for more information.
Friday
• Join the Pelican Breeze II at 6 p.m. for a pizza cruise. Call 507-383-2630 by 4 p.m.
for reservations.
Saturday
• The Albert Lea Farmers Market starts at 9 a.m. and goes until noon in the North Broadway Avenue parking lot.
• “The Beat Goes On” golf tournament at Green Lea Golf Course will start at 9 a.m. Funds go to purchasing equipment for first responders in the county.
• An architecture walk, free as part of the Sample Saturday Series, will begin at 10 a.m. at the Marion Ross Performing Arts Center.
• The Pelican Breeze II will depart from the dock at 4 p.m. The cruise is $10 and no reservations are required. If the cruise is canceled there will be a sign with that notification.
Sunday
• A Pelican Breeze II narrated by Ken Fiscus will depart at 7 p.m. The cruise will cost $15 and reservations are needed by Friday by calling 507-383-2630.
