A 7-year-old boy was treated for burns Tuesday after his 14-year-old cousin allegedly smeared hand sanitizer on his back and lit him on fire, according to Police Chief Brian Krueger.

The 7-year-old boy’s parents brought him to Mayo Clinic Health System in Austin around 7:50 p.m. Tuesday evening. He sustained burns to his back.

The boy told his parents and hospital officials his older cousin put hand sanitizer on his back and lit it on fire.
