The Freeborn County Humane Society is holding an adoption event each Friday in August called Black Friday.

On any Friday in August, including Aug. 5, 12, 19 and 26, any black cat or black and white cat will have a $50 adoption fee if they are one year or older. Black kittens will have the regular $85 adoption fee. The shelter is open from noon to 5 p.m. on Fridays.

“We encourage people to come on down and adopt these great cats,” board member Dee Amberg said.

All animals will be available for adoption during the month of August during regular hours Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1 to 5 p.m. and Fridays from noon to 5 p.m.

Some of the black cats available are in foster homes through Freeborn County Humane Society but can still be seen on www.petfinder.com. The shelter can be reached at 507-377-8501.
