Here are highlights in history for Aug. 11, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:
1984 — A Tribune article featured Marty Vandekamp, a former Hollandale resident, who was involved in trying to be a county-western singer.
1974 — Max Conrad, the “Flying Grandfather” of Winona, was the guest speaker for Skyrama ’74 at the Albert Lea Airport.
1954 — Wells held its fourth annual Kernel Days. The three-day event was mainly based on Thompson Park.
