Here are highlights in history for Aug. 19, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:
1991 — About 100 riflemen attended the Minnesota State Clay Pigeon Shoot held at the Valhalla Hunt Club west of Albert Lea.
1981 — There were 14 candidates for the Wells Junior Miss title. The selection would be made on Aug. 23 at the Wells-Easton High School Auditorium.
1951 — Brig. Gen. Robert Bates, a World War I veteran, died at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Nichols of Albert Lea.
