Here are highlights in history for Aug. 21, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:

1986 — The community of Bolan, Iowa, was preparing to celebrate its centennial. One of the events for this Worth County locality southeast of Northwood would be a stand-still parade.

1976 — One of the entries in Hollandale’s Harvest Festival parade was a four horse hitch from Canada’s Saskatchewan province.

1946 — The Albert Lea School Board voted to delay the start of classes for two weeks because of a polio epidemic.
