Here are highlights in history for Aug. 24, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:
1989 — An article by Dawn Johnson, a Tribune staff intern, featured Dick Lindell and his collection of waterfowl items in his home on North Bridge Avenue.
1979 — The city of Albert Lea was negotiating with the Masonic organizations to purchase their building at 147 N. Broadway Ave. for use as a community theater.
1958 — About 15 tons of corn, 200 pounds of butter and 100 pounds of salt were used to feed more than 8,000 people attending the ninth annual Kernel’s Party in Wells.
