1993 — Two area car drivers competing at the Brainerd International Raceway were Tom Hestness of Albert Lea and Bob Lair of Lake Mills, Iowa.

1839 — A Tribune editorial said supporting the programs of the Civic Music Association would help to improve the cultural life of the community.

1963 — Bernie Hermanson was elected president of the corporation set up to conduct the National High School Rodeo to be held in Albert Lea.
