The Albert Lea Community Theatre has announced the productions for its 2011-12 season and that online ticket sales will be offered in addition to regular box office sales.

Starting out ACT’s 47th season will be “Doubt,” running from Sept. 22 through Oct. 1. This drama highlights suspicions of a priest’s behavior. Beginning Dec. 1 through Dec. 10 ACT will feature “The Dickens Christmas Carol Show,” an adaptation of the Charles Dickens classic.

“The Christmas Carol is a classic and something to look forward to,” ACT Co-President Tony Segura said. “It’s a really good variety this year.”

“How to Talk Minnesotan” will begin on April 25 and run through May 5. This comedy celebrates life in Minnesota. Rounding out the season will be “Oliver!” This musical will run July 12 through July 21 and is based on “Oliver Twist.”

Online ticket sales will be available for the first time this season. Normal box office purchases are still available. Season tickets must be purchased before Aug. 15. Individual show tickets will be available online beginning Sept. 1. Visit ACT’s website at www.actonbroadway.com.

“It’s a good tool for us,” Segura said.

Segura said ACT wanted to have ticket sales be more convenient so people from other cities or people who can’t get to the box office when it’s open can still purchase tickets.

Changes to ACT board

ACT’s board of directors were installed at the June 20 annual meeting. Co-presidents named were Segura and Rosalie Truax; co-treasurers named were Bob Sturtz and Karen Szymanowski; Barb Lang was named secretary. Directors include Kathy Brekke, Dan Borland, Jason Howland, Jeff Jimenez, Mary Ellen Johnson, Dawn Fleek, Nancy Lahs, Rory Mattson, Sue Runden, Shelley Pederson and Crystal Schatz.

Segura said the new board comes with a wide range of talents, experience and diverse backgrounds. ACT features local actors, directors and stage crew who volunteer their time. Volunteers are always needed.
