MANCHESTER — Dart leagues, pool tournaments and live musical entertainment are just a few of the things you can expect to see over the next few months at the Bend in the Road.
The biker bar located off of Minnesota Highway 13 in Manchester, was purchased and remodeled in 2009 by Scott “Mule” Juveland and Mike “Bass” Skov. They have been providing fresh bands and cold brews ever since.
“The town’s been real good to us,” Juveland said.
Juveland, who is a first-time bar owner, said the bar is planning to have a fresh lineup of bands and entertainment for the upcoming months.
On Sept. 10, the Bend will welcome the band Rising & the Minneapolis Vix for a street dance. Rising is a Twin Cities-based rock band.
“The band will start at about 8:30 p.m. and will go until about 12:30 a.m.,” Juveland said. “The Bend will be open until 2 a.m.”
He hopes the street dance can help establish the Bend in the Road as a live-music venue. They will also have a bonfire going on at the establishment.
“We like to enjoy the music and enjoy being outside under the stars,” Juveland said.
The owners try to draw local bands as well as fresh, new bands that Juveland picks out himself at least once a month. On Halloween night the Bend will host local cover band Bad Monkey.
Along with the live bands and bonfires, the bar will also be hosting dart and pool leagues.
The dart leagues will be held every Monday night and the pool league will be on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
The Bend in the Road is still looking for five-man teams and individuals for the D&R pool leagues beginning on Sept. 20. Final rosters are to be submitted by Sept. 8.
Teams in the pool leagues will play around bars in southern Minnesota including the Bend in the Road, the Aragon, Twin Lakes, Harold’s, the Nasty Habit and at Sportsman’s.
“At the end of the year there is a large tournament in Rochester,” Juveland said. “It brings in 300 to 400 teams from all over the state.”
There are weekly standings posted for individuals and teams to track their rankings as well as a $10 entry tournament on the third or fourth Saturday of every month for players to keep up with their game.
Miller Light van is coming
On Sept. 25 the Miller Light van will be stopping by the Bend in the Road to display the Minnesota Vikings game on big-screen TV sets.
The Vikings kick off against the Detroit Lions in their third game of the season and second home game at the Mall of America Field. The game is scheduled to start at noon.
Juveland said the bar will be featuring Miller brand specials and the games on the big screens.
