LAKE MILLS, Iowa — The Lake Mills volleyball team won its 21st consecutive game to open the season Tuesday against Belmond-Klemme in a 3-0 win in Lake Mills.
The third-ranked Bulldogs, who are off to a 9-0 start this season, defeated the Broncos 25-16, 25-8, 25-10.
“I give Belmond-Klemme credit for coming ready to play,” Bulldogs coach Jim Boehmer said. “We were not playing at a high level early on.”
The Bulldogs swept six two-game matches Saturday to win a tournament in Algona, Iowa. Boehmer said a big weekend like that can often lead to a let down.
“Our performance tonight will need to improve if we want to compete with the teams on our schedule,” Boehmer said. “We missed two early serves and struggled passing in Game 1.”
The Bulldogs were led offensively by outside hitters Josie Brackey and Shelby Kuper who each recorded 16 kills.
Morgan Fjelstad had 24 set assists, and Brackey added nine aces on 28-of-28 serving.
The Bulldogs play again at 7:30 p.m. Thursday against Osage in Lake Mills.
