Here are highlights in history for Sept.  22, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:

1988 — The Albert Lea City Council was considering the sale of the northernmost block on Broadway Ave. to St. John’s Lutheran Home. This property would be used for a 52-unit apartment building for senior citizens. (Note: This project never became a reality.)

1978 — Senator Orrin Hatch of Utah would be the speaker at the annual dinner of the Albert Lea-Freeborn County Chamber of Commerce.

1968 — The Albert Lea High School Tigers football team won their 16th straight victory over the team from Winona High School.
