Here are highlights in history for Sept. 7, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:

1991 — Norm Larson and his team and their semi-truck won the national truck pulling contest at the East Coast Big Rig Grad Nationals near Lancaster, Pa.

1981 — The weekend and Labor Day event in Alden was a rodeo which drew participants from Wisconsin, Iowa, Kansas, South Dakota and Minnesota.

1941 — A two-day celebration was held in Emmons for the opening of newly paved U.S. Highway 69 from that community to Albert Lea.
