Here are highlights in history for Sept. 8, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:
1992 — The Wells City Council voted to close the Wells Hospital in 60 to 90 days. Financial problems prompted this action.
1982 — Farmer Seed & Nursery Garden Center, 1839 S.E. Broadway Ave., was conducting a Harvest of Values sale, according to a Tribune ad.
1942 — Labor Day weekend at Naeve Hospital resulted in the birth of six girls, four boys and a set of male twins.
