Here are highlights in history for Sept. 13, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:
1990 — A Tribune article explained that Garfield Avenue was one of the few places within Albert Lea where utility poles were set within curbside cement walks.
1980 — A Tribune editorial saluted Naeve Hospital for its 75 years of service to the community.
1940 — The Albert Lea High School Tigers football team lost its first game of the season to Minneapolis Patrick Henry High School with a score of 13-6.
