Here are highlights in history for Sept.  28, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:

1987 — Many of the participants in the Fort Atkinson, Iowa, rendezvous would be coming to Helmer Myre State Park to become a part of the Big Island Rendezvous.

1977 — An Elvis Presley look alike contest, jitter bug dance off and best 50s costume would be among the events for the second anniversary of the Side Door at Albert Lea’s Holiday Inn, 2306 E. Main St.

1947 — Seventh and eighth grade students of the Freeborn School visited the Tribune, city hall, Morlea Dairy, KATE and the courthouse during a field trip.
