Tigers beat St. Peter 102-84

The Albert Lea girls’ swimming and diving team picked up its second win of the season Tuesday 102-84 at St. Peter.
The Tigers placed first in seven events including a 1-2-3 finish in the 100-yard breastroke, which sealed the win. Morgan Field led the Tigers in the meet-clinching event with a first-place time of 1 minute and 13.16 seconds. Samantha Nielson and Hannah Hertling finished second and third, respectively.
In the meet’s first race, the Tigers’ 200-yard medley relay team of Kemma Bergland, Field, Galen Schulz and Lindsey Horejsi finished first in 1:57.13, edging St. Peter by .32 seconds.
Field then went on to win the 200-yard individual medley, and Lindsey Horejsi won the 50-yard freestyle over St. Peter’s Kaitlin Kamm, who last year placed third in the event at the state meet.
Karli Kriewall won the one-meter diving event with a score of 176.15, and Horejsi placed first in the 100-yard freestyle.
The Tigers’ 400-yard freestyle relay team of Anna Anderson, Whitney Rasmussen, Kemma Bergland and Haley Simon ended the meet with a first-place finish.
The Tigers compete again at 6 p.m. tonight against Rochester Mayo at Albert Lea High School.
