Weekend Planner: Autumn in the Village is this Sunday

Join the Freeborn County Historical Society for its annual Autumn in the Village celebration Sunday at the museum on Bridge Avenue in Albert Lea. Old-fashioned photos will be available, and people can dress the part in vintage clothing.
There will also be apple pie, ice cream, maid-rites, hot dogs, sasparilla, kettle corn and other foods and drinks. There will also be children’s activities and many different demonstrations at the various buildings in the village.
Cost is $5 for adults and $1 for students age 12 to 18. Members and children under age 11 are free. The event starts at noon and goes until 4 p.m.
Friday
• Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Albert Lea will host a bazaar, bake sale and vegetable beef soup and sandwich lunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Cost for lunch is $6.
• Cruise Albert Lea Lake on the Pelican Breeze II at 6 p.m. Cost is $15, and reservations are needed by 4 p.m. by calling 507-383-2630.
• Tony DeBlois will perform at 7 p.m. at the Albert Lea Senior Center in Skyline Plaza. The event is open to the public, and donations will be accepted.
Saturday
• The Albert Lea Farmers Market starts at 9 a.m. and goes until noon in the North Broadway Avenue parking lot.
• The Bolan United Methodist Women will host a bazaar and buffet luncheon from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Cost is $7 for adults and $4 for children.
• Bear Lake Concordia Lutheran Church of Conger will host a salad luncheon from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Cost is $6 for adults, $2 for children age 5 to 10 years and free for children under 5.
• Author Faye Berger will sign books from 1 to 3 p.m. at Book World in Northbridge Mall. Her most recent book is “Gumption, lessons in old age, loneliness and a hotdish.”
Sunday
• The Oak Grove Gun Club will host a breakfast from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the American Legion in Albert Lea. Cost is $6 for adults and children under age 6 are free. Menu includes pancakes, sausage, scrambled eggs, potatoes, fruit, juice and coffee. Funds go to support shooting range use for 4-H groups, gun safety classes and Boy Scouts.
• As a fundraiser for the Freeborn County United Way, a pancake breakfast featuring Denny Brue’s pancakes will be held from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Bonnerup Funeral Service in Albert Lea. The menu includes pancakes, sausage, eggs, coffee, juice and milk. Any donations will go to the United Way and the agencies it supports.
• Cruise the Albert Lea Lake on the Pelican Breeze II at 1:30 p.m. No reservations are needed and cost is $10.
• The Freeborn County Historical Society hosts the Autumn in the Village event from noon to 4 p.m. at the museum in Albert Lea. Cost is $5 for adults, $1 for students age 12 to 18 or free for members or age 11 and under.
• A 10 Bikes for 10 Kids giveaway party will be from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Skate Park in Albert Lea. The Albert Lea Police Department will give away free bike locks while they last.
• First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea will host a free concert featuring the Mount Carmel Trio, made up of violinist Jane Schuneman, celloist Sonja Hinderlie and pianist Kay Hoffland.
