Here are highlights in history for Oct. 4, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:

1992 — The New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva High School football team was rated as the fourth-best Class B team in the state. Their record for the season so far was five wins and no losses.

1982 — Tammy Lybeck and Ty Christensen were crowned Homecoming Queen and King at Albert Lea High School. This was reportedly the first time in 50 years the students could choose both a king and queen.

1972 — Darrell and Joyce Penning of Kiester were starting their third year in Morocco with the Peace Corps.
