Here are highlights in history for Oct. 6, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:
1984 — The U.S. Marine Band presented two concerts at the L.J. “Cap” Emmons Auditorium on Oct. 4. This band, known as the “President’s Own,” was on a tour of the Midwest.
1974 — “Ham and Cheese,” a two-man musical group was appearing at the Hub Cap Pub, a part of the Kahler Motel at 2301 E. Main St.
1954 — Voters in Hollandale decided to dissolve their school district and merge with the Albert Lea district. The vote was 67 yes and 47 opposed.
