Branding parents doesn’t help

Everyone hates to think they live in a society where small animals are tortured and killed. I do not doubt that a boy capable of this does need help, as Scott Schmeltzer stated in his column on Nov. 3, 2011.
Can you imagine how you would feel if you found out that your son, cousin or nephew, was the one who had done this awful deed? Emotional torture! To think someone you know and have spent time with is capable of killing a small animal. I do not know the family that Schmeltzer mentioned in his article, but he talked about the boy not being loved, shoving the boy aside, leaving him very lonely and angry. That someone forgot to teach him right from wrong, as if the parents are not suffering enough by having this happen in their home.
Now they have been branded as terrible people also. I do not feel that this is fair. As a parent I am sure they are suffering from this incident. They do not need anyone telling everyone how terrible they are and what a bad job they did with their children. We all do the best we can.
