Here are highlights in history for Nov. 1, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:
1984 — A Tribune editorial endorsed Timothy “Tim” Penny for reelection to a second two-year term as the region’s representative in the U.S. Congress.
1974 — Camp Moraine, owned by the Albert Lea YMCA, was next to Helmer Myre State Park at this time, However, the state was preparing to take over the property during the following year.
1964 — Freeborn County Agent Eldon Senske said 50 percent of the corn crop had been harvested and the yield was about 60 bushels per acre.
