Here are highlights in history for Nov. 27, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:
1984 — Dudley’s IGA in the Skyline Shopping Center was advertising Wilson smoked picnic ham for 69 cents a pound and a 25-pound bag of Robin Hood white flour for $2.99.
1974 — A headline on the editorial page was, “Can a dragon and a bear become friends?” Further reading of the column revealed the theme was based on diplomatic problems between China and Russia.
1954 — Ted Stewart, manager of Albert Lea’s J.C. Penney store for 18 years, would be going to Greeley, Colo., to manage another Penney store.
