Weekend Planner: Talent shines at Ross Center

A fall fundraiser for Senior Resources, “A Time to be Thankful,” starts at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Marion Ross Performing Arts Center in Albert Lea. A variety of local talent will perform and a cheesecake buffet will follow. Tickets are $12 in advance at Senior Resources and Doyle’s Hallmark in Northbridge Mall or $15 at the door before the show.

• United South Central School in Wells performs “The Wizard of Oz” at 7 p.m. at the school’s auditorium. Tickets on Friday and Saturday are $7 for students, $7.50 for seniors and $8 for adults. A family pack rate for $30 is available as well. Read more about the musical on Page 5.

• Albert Lea High School presents its fall musical, “Bye Bye Birdie,” at 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium. Tickets are $5 for students, $7 for adults and available at the door, Doyle’s Hallmark and Addie’s Floral & Gifts.

 

Saturday

• Local jewelry designers and metalsmiths, Teresa Matheson and Patty Tewes, of MattyPat Designs will hold an annual trunk show to feature necklaces, rings and more jewelry at Crescendo restaurant from 9:30 a.m. to noon.

• The Albert Lea Farmers Market will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Northbridge Mall inside the Old Schweser’s store location.

Sunday

• The Full Draw Archery Club and Youth Program will host a pancake breakfast at the Albert Lea American Legion from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Cost is $7 for adults and children age 5 and under are free.

• A Dad’s Belgian waffles breakfast will be held at First Lutheran Church at 301 W. Clark St. from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Cost is $6 and children age 5 and younger are free.

• The Albert Lea Cantori, directed by Eileen Nelson Ness, presents “Sing Noel” at 3 p.m. at the United Methodist Church, 702 Highway 69 South.
