Weekend Planner: Wine tasting tops weekend

The United Way of Freeborn County is continuing to work toward its campaign goal of $661,000 and will host a holiday wine tasting with Fountain Warehouse Liquor on Friday. The event features appetizers and wine and beer to taste for a $20 donation at Wedgewood Cove Golf Club.

There will be a holiday-themed silent auction, and local artists will display their work at the event. The event starts at 6:30 p.m. and there will be more than 70 kinds of wine and beer to try.

 

Friday

• The Hollandale Christian School’s annual fall supper goes from 4 to 7 p.m. at the school. Donations will be accepted and the menu includes turkey, ham, potatoes, beans, baked apples, desserts and more. Funds go to helping the school purchase supplies.

• Albert Lea High School’s choir and orchestra groups will perform concerts at 6 and 8 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church. Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for students and seniors.

• The United Way of Freeborn County’s annual wine and beer tasting event will be held at Wedgewood Cove Golf Club starting at 6:30 p.m. A $20 donation goes to the United Way, and there will be many different kinds of wine and beer to sample as well as a silent auction.

• Alden-Conger students present “An Inconvenient Corpse” at 7 p.m. A dinner will be held at 6 p.m. Tickets are $11 for adults and $9 for students and seniors and $5 less for the show only.

 

Saturday

• The Albert Lea Farmers Market starts at 10 a.m. and goes until 1 p.m. in Northbridge Mall.

• A hunter’s lunch and bake sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Moscow Town Hall.

• A hunter’s sloppy joe feed will be held by the Glenville Area Women of Today from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Glenville American Legion. Hunters and anyone in the public are invited. Menu includes sloppy joes, chips, bars and water for a donation.

Sunday

• A benefit pancake breakfast for the Brick Hall and Czech bake sale will be held from 6:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Glenville American Legion.

• The Albert Lea VFW Post No. 447 will host a pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Moose Lodge. Cost is $65 for adults and $3.50 for children. The public is invited.

• Alden-Conger students present “An Inconvenient Corpse” at 2 p.m. Tickets are $6 for adults and $4 for students and seniors.
