An Albert Lea woman accused of stabbing her boyfriend in the face with a steak knife pleaded guilty on Friday to a lesser crime.
Samantha Leah Freeman pleaded guilty to one count of disorderly conduct as part of a plea agreement with her lawyer and the Freeborn County Attorney’s Office.
She had initially been charged with one count of second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon and one count of obstructing arrest tied to an incident from May 30. Those charges have been dismissed.
Freeborn County District Judge Steve Schwab sentenced Freeman to one year supervised probation and 1 1/2 days of Sentence to Service. If she violates her probation she faces up to 30 days in the Freeborn County jail.
According to court documents, Freeman was arrested after the incident at 1208 St. Joseph Ave. Police found out about the assault early that morning after receiving a call from the emergency room at Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea. A man had a laceration on his left cheek and a bandaged arm.
Freeman was found at the residence and tested a .222 on a preliminary breath test.
Police found many blood stains in the house, a chair tipped over and a smashed glass table. A wet steak knife was found in the sink, according to court documents.
