Here are highlights in history for Dec. 12, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:
1992 — The Tribune was inviting readers to pick the top 10 local stories for the year. Among the choices were the closing of the Wells Hospital and closing of the J.C. Penney store in the Skyline Mall.
1982 — A Tribune article by Joan Jacobson featured Harlan Bang, principal of J. John Halverson Elementary School, and his memories of school that was observing its 25th year under his leadership.
1972 — Fountain Industries of Albert Lea had marketing agreements with firms in Japan, Great Britain, Belgium, Germany and Denmark.
