Here are highlights in history for Dec. 16, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:
1985 — Frank Hacker and Carl Paulson retired after 20 years each of volunteer service with the Emmons Fire Department and Charles Troe retired after 28 years of service.
1975 — Amos and Andy would be appearing at Albert Lea’s Kahler Motel on New Years Eve. However, this was not the famous duo from the radio programs, but two musicians.
1945 — Interstate Power Co. activated a 65-mile power line between Albert Lea and Montgomery.
