Here are highlights in history for Dec. 29, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:
1990 — A Tribune editorial thanked Leo Carey Post 56 of the American Legion for donating 12 safety patrol flags to the city’s elementary schools.
1980 — Icy roadways resulted in poor driving conditions and several accidents in the area. One of the accidents on Interstate 35 near Ellendale involved a van that landed on its top and minor injuries to five children and the driver.
1970 — Andrea Selzer and Randy Stanley were crowned junior high royalty at the annual snow dance sponsored by the City Recreation Department.
