Merle Stensrud opened the Dec. 7 United Methodist Women’s meeting with Christmas music followed by Perian Buringa giving a reading from “A Christmas Journey.”
President Marty Beckmann opened the business meeting with prayer and the purpose. The secretary’s report was given by Fern Urbatsch with Ruth Vermedahl reporting the balance in the treasury. Tracy Vandegrift made a motion to accept the slate of officers as presented by the nominating committee of Judy Hargrave, Jean Mattingly and Adean Turner. The motion was seconded by JoAnn Seuser and approved.
A motion by Vermedahl to have the trunk show in April with the date to be set by the committee was approved. All were reminded of the many people in Freeborn County in need of food and to be generous. Dr. Toby Thompson also made a plea for members to write a short devotional for the Easter booklet.
Reminders were given of the Advent organ recitals and the change of time for the Dec. 11 church service which would have the First Presbyterian church choir joining United Methodist Church in the Christmas Cantata.
The meeting adjourned with singing of several Christmas carols. Following the meeting the staff of the church were honored by a luncheon provided by Just Three circle.
