LAKE MILLS, Iowa — Lake Mills senior Shelby Kuper signed a National Letter of Intent on Friday to play volleyball for North Iowa Area Community College in Mason City, Iowa.
Kuper was named to the All-North Iowa Conference First Team this season after helping lead the Bulldogs to a 45-1 season and the semifinals of the Class 2A state tournament.
“We have been watching Shelby play the past couple of years, and we are very excited that she has decided to be a Trojan next year,” said NIACC coach Chris Brant, who played for the Lake Mills volleyball program, in a news release. “Not only does she bring a killer line shot, but coming from the Lake Mills program, she will bring a depth for the game along with a successful attitude.”
Kuper was named to the Tribune’s All-Area First Team her senior year after finishing second on the Bulldogs with 258 kills. She also recorded 26 blocks, 57 digs and 11 ace serves, while serving at a 94 percent clip.
“Shelby is an exceptional player who brings a great attitude to the team,” Bulldogs coach Jim Boehmer said. “She jumps well and is always improving. She has been a vital part to our run the last two years, and started on a team that has a combined 90-3 record the past two years and advanced to the state finals and semifinals. I think this experience will serve her well at the next level.”
The Trojans play in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference and are part of the National Junior College Athletic Association.
