A retirement open house honoring Albert Lea Tribune writer and columnist Ed Shannon will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at the Tribune office.

Shannon retired Dec. 30 after more than 27 years with the Tribune.

Shannon’s column, “Between the Corn Rows,” has been appearing in the newspaper every Friday since December 1984, with just three exceptions.

He has written 1,410 columns and 3,517 byline articles and taken at least 2,677 photos to go with those articles or as stand-alone contributions.
